WA's first Wheelchair Football League launches at HBF Stadium

The competition for WA's first Wheelchair Football League is ready to get underway, with HBF Stadium hosting a launch celebration this morning.
Three WAFL clubs – Swan Districts, East Perth, and Subiaco will initially be represented in the competition, which aims to ensure that everyone can have a go at Aussie rules football, regardless of their ability or gender.
The celebration was attended by Sport and Recreation Minister, Tony Buti, as well as a trio of West Coast Eagles stars - Oscar Allen, Parris Laurie and Hamish Brayshaw - who gave the sport a red hot crack out on court.
The competition officially begins midday Sunday 10 October at HBF Stadium, and features modified rules including a handball equivalent to a ‘kick’ and an underarm throw replacing a ‘handball’.
Each team can have two able-bodied players, but only one is allowed on the court at a time - making it a sport that everyone can participate in.
