New happy charity partnership for Optus Stadium

Optus Stadium has expanded its charitable community commitment with the announcement that a partnership has been formed with Western Australia based pre-emptive mental health organisation Happiness Co.

Optus Stadium has expanded its charitable community commitment with the announcement that a partnership has been formed with Western Australia based pre-emptive mental health organisation Happiness Co.

Happiness Co classifies themselves as more than a standard charity partner, but rather as a purpose partner with their purpose - as their name suggests – to bring happiness to people.

Founded by Julian Pace, Happiness Co is a social enterprise for all members of the community with an aim to increase happiness, help others find theirs and serve as a platform for people to share happiness through contribution.

Their vision is to reduce the impact that unhappiness, depression and anxiety have on our community.

Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said that Happiness Co’s mission and values aligned with those at Optus Stadium, recently acknowledged by Prix Versailles as the most beautiful sports facility in the world.

“Happiness Co aims to make the world a happier place by inspiring people in it and this concurs with our mission and values at Optus Stadium, to deliver inspired shared experiences, make the greatest things happen for our customers and help people” he said.

“No matter what event people attend at Optus Stadium, whether it’s a game of AFL or cricket, a tour of the Stadium or a function in one of our many rooms and spaces, we have always been driven to make people happy and enjoy their experience.  We believe every moment matters, and that is something Happiness Co also believes.”

Happiness Co. Founder Julian Pace said the company was incredibly excited to partner with Optus Stadium as the new home ground for happiness in Australia.

“The relationship will be a catalyst for events, activations and opportunities for the whole community to contribute to our ethos of ‘together we can’,”he said.

“The ultimate goal is a partnership that fuels action over awareness in the space of happiness, fulfilment and positive mental health.”

The announcement of the partnership follows on from a number of events that Optus Stadium has completed with Telethon, including last year’s AFL Grand Final on the Grass event and supporting the collaboration between the Manchester United Foundation, Telethon and Inclusion Solutions in a project that allows children with physical and intellectual disabilities to play soccer in an integrated team competition with clubs around Perth.

Since opening in January 2018, Optus Stadium has hosted 190 charity events through its MASE business as well as hosting next month’s Perth Running Festival and MACA Cancer 200 Ride in the Stadium Park.
