2021/22 highlights

2021/22 was a successful year for VenuesWest, despite the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19. Together with our valued stakeholders we achieved many great results, further supporting high performance sport in Western Australia and continuing to deliver world class experiences for the community.

2021/22 was a successful year for VenuesWest, despite the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19. Together with our valued stakeholders we achieved many great results, further supporting high performance sport in Western Australia and continuing to deliver world class experiences for the community.

Highlights for 2021/22 include:

We welcomed 4.59 million patrons to our 13 venues, our second highest result ever.

We invested $27 million back into our venues.

We helped support 78 WA athletes to compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games.

We provided a 60% subsidy and 67,000 hours of high performance training and competition.

We secured several world class events – Suncorp Super Netball League Netball Grand Final, ICON Perth’s International Festival of Football, ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, FIFA Women’s World Cup.

We launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

We achieved our highest ever 98% satisfaction in our high performance user survey.

We achieved 93% in our regular customer satisfaction survey.

Optus Stadium was voted Australia’s Best Stadium and noted as the Global Stadium of the year.

We opened the country’s first fully accessible roof top experience at Optus Stadium.

Our assets reached a combined value of $1.85 billion.

We commenced major venue upgrades at Perth Rectangular Stadium (HBF Park) for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Lastly, but by no means least, we hosted the 2021 Toyota AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium, in front of 61,1187 fans.
