Members, staff and the local community have answered VenuesWest’s week-long call for cans, with over one hundred food items donated to food rescue charity, OzHarvest.

The non-perishable items will be put to good use by OzHarvest, helping them to create over 500 Christmas food hampers to help feed Western Australians in need over the festive season.

VenuesWest CEO, David Etherton said he was proud of the response from the community and our staff.

“OzHarvest is one of our valued Community Partners, and have been embraced by our staff and patrons since coming on board this year."

“Although we aim to donate all unused food from functions and events to OzHarvest, the food drive was a great initiative for our staff and patrons to directly support a worthy cause."

“Whilst our purpose revolves around delivering sporting and entertainment experiences, we are committed to supporting local communities and helping those less fortunate,” said Mr Etherton.

OzHarvest WA State Manager, Jennifer Keen said that unfortunately due to the dramatic increase in rental and fuel costs there has been an increase in Western Australians experiencing food insecurity.

“We’ve continued to experience a growing demand in those seeking food relief this year, and we are looking to distribute over 500 Festive food hampers this season.

“The hampers will be given to charitable agencies, schools and community groups to help feed those most at risk and bring a bit of festive cheer across Perth!”​​​​​​​
