The 18-time Grand Slam champion will represent Switzerland for the fourth time at the mixed teams tournament. Earlier this year, 103,167 fans flocked to Perth Arena to watch one of the most successful events in the tournament's history.
Federer went on to win this year's Australian Open following his appearance at the tournament. He will once again be joined by Swiss player Belinda Bencic. The full player line-up will be announced in October.
The State Government, through Tourism Western Australia, has been a proud sponsor of the Mastercard Hopman Cup since its inception in 1989. The current sponsorship deal has secured the tournament in WA until 2022.
With Federer as the drawcard, fans broke attendance records at each of his matches with more than 41,000 people attending the Swiss team's three sessions.
Research commissioned by Tourism WA also showed that 39 per cent of international and 43 per cent of interstate visitors said Roger Federer was the main reason they travelled to WA for the Mastercard Hopman Cup.

"Tourism is a critical economic driver for the State supporting more than 97,000 jobs and injecting $10 billion into the Western Australian economy."
Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:
"Events are vital to tourism as they attract visitors who inject millions into the economy, add vibrancy to the city and promote the State nationally and internationally through valuable media exposure.
"The Mastercard Hopman Cup is a perfect example of an event that provides significant benefits to the State.
"For example, the event generated a media value of about $68.4 million in international and domestic markets, a significant increase from the year before, providing exposure for Perth to millions of potential visitors around the world."
