Coinciding with the venue’s 6th birthday, RAC Arena has cracked a major milestone.

Last night, RAC Arena celebrated its 500th event with a crowd favourite, vetran Aussie rib-tickler, Carl Barron. WA’s home to live entertainment events has welcomed a massive 4.4 million guests over their six year history with a mix of live music events, comedians and sport. To celebrate the venues major achievement, we thought we would take a trip down memory lane to remember some of our favorite live music events that have contributed to the milestone.

Elton John - Rocket Man Tour

It was inevitable that we had to kick off the list with the artist who started it all, Elton John. Setting the scene for the opening of Perth Arena six years ago yesterday with his Rocket Man Tour, the then 65-year-old ignited the stage with his unforgettable performance. Elton definitely made an entrance when he arrived in a blue sequinned suit and his famous glasses and accompanied by four backing vocalists. With a whopping 2.5 hour performance, Elton ended the show with The Lion King classic, the circle of life.

Beyoncé - Mrs Carter Show World Tour

To celebrate the venues 1st birthday, ‘Queen Bey’ blessed the arena with her fierce Mrs Carter Show World Tour. It was no surprise that the global superstar sold out both nights of her concert at Perth Arena, amassing a total of nearly 30,000 overall attendees. The then-32 year stepped up her game with flames, feature clips, eye-catching costumes, eleven back-up dancers and of course her fierce stage presence. As well as performing songs off her latest album 4, the multi-award winner went back to her roots with some crowd favourites including; ‘crazy in love’ and previous girl band favourite ‘survivor’.

Kanye West - Yeezus Tour

Kanye West kicked off his Australian Yeezus tour in 2014 at Perth Arena. The 21 time Grammy award winner definitely delivered an unforgettable show featuring his diamond encrusted mask. Fans of the night were treated with songs from his latest album such as the Wolf of Wall Street feature track ‘Black skinhead’ opening the show, as well as this came two performances of ’Blood on the leaves’ along with some Kanye classics such as ‘All Falls Down’, ‘Touch the Sky’ and ‘Stronger’. With his opener Pusha T and iconic wife, Kim Kardashian watching from the crowd the night was definitely one to remember.

Ed Sheeran - The x Tour

The English artist Ed Sheeran’s show brought a refreshing change to the arena with no over the top band or back up dancers, just him with his guitar, vocals and a loop pedal which is used to diversify his vocals. Everything the talented 24 year old played for his fans over the two night performances was live. As part of the ‘x’ tour Sheeran played most of his set list from the 2014 album, however throwing in some of his past fan favourites such as the iconic 'A-team' and even a take on 50 cent’s 'In Da Club'. As well as swooning and mesmerizing the crowd that had packed into the Arena’s two sold-out performances by the singer, Ed wasn’t letting anyone get away without singing along to his well-known lyrics stating “the goal is that by the end of the night we all lose our voices!”

Prince - Piano & Microphone Tour

Back in 2016, the talented Prince performed not only his first show in Perth, but his first solo tour. With just (you guessed it) his voice and a piano, the small production value contributed to the special atmosphere and intimacy of the event that night, where 12,000 ticket holders packed into the venue. Although with the stripped back stage productions, Prince still made a statement in his heeled shoes that lit up red when playing the piano. The artist treated fans with his trip back to the 80/90’s with classic hits purple rain, kiss and little red corvette. The show really was a unique experience for all that attended and will remain a great memory of the artist’s first and last ever show performed in Perth, with his passing shortly after in April 2016.

Bruce Springsteen - From the Summer '17 Tour

The Bruce Springsteen and E-Street band 2017 string of concerts at Perth Arena were definitely nights to remember. The then 68 year old showed no signs of slowing, with a high level of energy across all nights of his feature at Perth Arena, playing over 50 different songs across the 3 performances. Playing favourites including born to run, dancing in the dark and darkness on the edge of town. Springsteen played an epic 3 and a half hour set-list which still left fans wanting more after waiting 3 years to hear ‘the boss’ play for them again.

P!NK - Beautiful Trauma Tour

With her last Australian tour occurring in 2013, P!NK returned bigger and better than ever playing a huge 4 shows (overtaking Bruce Springsteen for most shows played at the venue), to over 60 000 people at Perth Arena during her visit. Her Beautiful Trauma tour showcases an entertaining mix of some of her newest songs including latest single ’Revenge’, ’What about us’ and a few of her crowd-favourites, ’Let’s get this party started' and ’So what’. The artist is definitely a Perth-favourite to watch and this was displayed in her latest performance with the 39 year-old holding nothing back with a showcase of an aerial act over the crowds’ heads, feature band, dancers and fire.

Along with these stand-out artists, RAC Arena has also welcomed an even bigger list of live music artists through its doors including; Katy Perry, Jenifer Lopez, Guns N Roses, Dolly Parton, Hans Zimmer, Justin Timberlake, Drake, The Weeknd and many more. We can't wait to see what's in store for the next 500 events!
