Successful events are a collaborative effort with patron safety being of the utmost importance at all times. VenuesWest has multiple affiliations with different sporting governing bodies across its portfolio of venues.

VenuesWest received a request from Kwinana Motorplex Pty Ltd (KMPL) to engage the services of International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) as the sanctioning body for the upcoming 400 Thunder events. The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) has been used to date for drag racing events.

In response to this request, a multi-disciplined team was assembled to carry out a due diligence assessment process that ensures high safety and technical standards continue to be met and assurance regarding the utilisation of suitable, experienced and qualified personnel is obtained.

The assessment has been meticulous and as a result, the team concluded that IHRA has satisfied the Australian safety standards and requirements in order to be accepted as an alternate sanctioning body of the Perth Motorplex for drag racing.

This determination effectively enables the 400 Thunder Series event to continue as scheduled for 4 December 2015. The license agreement will be amended to enable KMPL to use IHRA.

Sanctioning bodies play an important role in establishing the rules that a race/event must comply. The oversight that these bodies provide in terms of safety and technical inspections and insurance ensures the safety of all participants and spectators and forms the basis of great event experiences.

VenuesWest is committed to working together with event organisers/promoters, venue operators and sanctioning bodies to ensure that an appropriate solution in terms of safety and sanctioning is secured. The appropriate due diligence process must occur to ensure high safety standards and expectations are met prior to the acceptance of an alternate Sanctioning Body at Perth Motorplex.

VenuesWest would like to reiterate that safety is our number one priority and the 400 Thunder event this weekend must comply with the required conditions to ensure high safety standards and expectations are met.
