In 2016, VenuesWest launched the highly successful Community Partners Program, which is a partnership between VenuesWest and a select group of charity organisations offering tailored opportunities and benefits to assist them in achieving their core objectives.

At the start of last financial year, we welcomed Mentally Healthy WA to the Program for a two-year period, joining Autism West, Starlight Children’s Foundation and St Vincent de Paul Society WA.

Mentally Healthy WA’s vision is to work toward a society that values mental health and where everyone has the opportunity to be mentally healthy. Furthermore, Mentally Healthy WA operates Act-Belong-Commit, a promotional campaign that aims to change attitudes towards mental health by encouraging people to be more open about mental health issues and inspire people to engage in activities that strengthen their mental wellbeing.

Programs include Youth Connectors, Mentally Healthy Schools WA, Aboriginal (Standing Strong Together) and the Pilbara Capacity Building Programs.

Since Mentally Healthy joined the Program they have received a variety of benefits to provide to their clients who may be experiencing mental health issues and needing a release or just some time out of their daily grind to enjoy some time with their loved ones.

As such, VenuesWest has been able to provide clients of Mentally Healthy with the opportunity to take approximately five families to see The Wiggles at the RAC Arena suite, the opportunity to see Taylor Swift for the first time at Optus Stadium, a few AFL and Rugby games at Optus Stadium and Sam Smith at RAC Arena, just to name a few.

Furthermore, Mentally Healthy have utilised event space at Bendat Basketball Centre for two business events. A workshop for school staff to provide them with tools, resources and advice to help them build mentally healthy schools throughout WA in 2019, and a networking event for WA community groups, providing them with an opportunity to connect, swap stories and learn more about how they can help build mentally healthy communities throughout WA.

Campaign Manager, Ms Amberlee Nicholas share that “Joining the VenuesWest Community Partner Program has been an amazing opportunity to partner with an organisation who shares our vision for a mentally healthy WA. The partnership has provided us with an invaluable opportunity to provide incredible experiences to Western Australians from all walks of life, many who would otherwise not have had the opportunity.”

“I’ve spoken to one lady who suffers extreme social anxiety and has a child who doesn’t sleep much – and she said she usually wouldn’t come to an event like [The Wiggles concert] for fear of the crowds, but she put her fears aside for her daughter and was so proud of herself and so happy to be there.”

Janine Ripper, Marketing Officer also contributed by saying “Joining the VenuesWest Community Partner Program has been one of the major highlights to our year. The team from VenuesWest have been welcoming and supportive, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to be in the position to provide members of our community who have been doing it tough, with amazing experiences and opportunities - and to then see the smiles on their faces and hear their feedback!
