AEG Ogden to Manage VenuesWest Perth Arena
The Minister for Sport & Recreation, the Hon Terry Waldron MLA announced today the decision to award “preferred respondent” status for the operational and facilities management of Perth Arena to AEG Ogden.
The new state of the art facility will be opening in 2012 and Mr Waldron said it is essential that this world class sport and entertainment facility is operated by a world class venue operator with the skills and network to attract the national and international events Western Australians deserve.
“AEG is one of the leading sports and entertainment companies in the world specialising in venue ownership and management including venues such as the O2 Arena in London, the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, Acer Arena in Sydney and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane,” he said.
“AEG Ogden is responsible for the management of AEG venues in the Asia Pacific region, which include a network of arenas, stadiums, convention and exhibition centres and performing arts theatres in Australia, China, Malaysia and Qatar.
AEG also owns AEG LIVE, one of the world’s leading concert promotion and touring companies, developing and promoting many of the concert tours within the market currently, including Celine Dion and Justin Timberlake.
“The Government of Western Australia is committed to ensuring that Perth Arena provides the state with regular, high quality, memorable, entertainment and becomes a focal point for major concert and sports events,” Mr Waldron said.
The appointment has been welcomed by key international promoters including Luke Hede from Live Nation. Live Nation is the largest live entertainment company in the world and are currently promoting concert tours by artists as diverse as Lady GaGa, Kings of Leon and The Eagles.
“We are delighted to see a major event organisation like AEG Ogden managing Perth Arena and we expect to be working with them to secure major national and international acts into the venue as soon as it opens,” he said.
VenuesWest Chairman Graham Partridge said his organisation was delighted at the Government’s decision to award “preferred respondent” status of the new VenuesWest Perth Arena to industry leader AEG Ogden.
“Many Western Australians have enjoyed shows at their local venues such as the Perth Concert Hall and His Majesty’s Theatre,” he said. “They have established themselves as an industry leader and continue to provide first class venues and services.
