VenuesWest Chairman Graham Partridge says most people would be surprised to hear that 15,000 kids in almost 400 WA schools go to school without breakfast each week.

Each year two million Australians, or 1 in 10, seek assistance with food, around half of them are children. Over 14% of the Australian population is living in poverty.

“VenuesWest will work with Foodbank this winter to help our community donate what they can to help reduce hunger.”

“More than 50,000 people are expected through the doors at Challenge Stadium over the next month and we urge them to dig deep and get involved with the Foodbank appeal,” he said.

“Collection bins are located at reception and around the stadium.”

Foodbank WA’s David Warren said that “food and financial donations improve the health of people in need in WA”.

“Poor health is often a consequence of prolonged hunger,” Mr. Warren said. “For disadvantaged families maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be difficult when faced with the daily challenge of inadequate nutrition.”

“The staff and patrons of VenuesWest understand the importance of maintaining good health and it is fantastic to have their support.”

Foodbank is a non-denominational, charitable organisation, that sources donated and surplus food from the food and grocery industry, to distribute to welfare and community agencies that provide food assistance to more than 55,000 people in need every month.

You can donate non-perishable and durable food at Challenge Stadium for the next month.
