The new VenuesWest Perth Arena will be an iconic building for the people of Perth and Western Australia, attracting more entertainment, sporting and cultural events to Perth and bringing in new visitors.
The VenuesWest Perth Arena is expected to be completed in mid 2011 and open for events towards the end of spring 2011.
The major promoters in Australia that bring 90% of concert tours to Perth have embraced the design and layout of the 14,500 seat arena in concert mode and have already indicated to the Trust that it will mean touring acts are more likely to come to Western Australia.
The Arena will employ 30-35 full time staff and generate casual employment for over 300 casual event staff including catering staff, ushers, ticketing, security, cleaners and backstage operations staff. 90 construction workers work site daily.
Annually, during a full operational year, we are expecting more than 400,000 people will experience the peak of entertainment, sporting and dining experiences in the Perth Arena.
VenuesWest has already received numerous booking enquiries, and is well on track to attract 10 major concerts in the first 12 months of opening.
The Perth Arena will have an operable roof to allow the venue to emulate the conditions at the Australian Open for Hopman Cup tennis competitors. The Arena will host the 2012 Hopman Cup, and various family shows similar to Disney on Ice and the Wiggles.
The Arena will hold 14,500 boxing fans, possible basketball matches, international netball, martial arts tournaments, and national indoor sports championships
The Perth Arena has been designed to maximise flexibility and will have a curtaining system in the auditorium reduce the seating mode as required to allow another 10 smaller concerts and events with between 4,000 and- 8,000 patrons to be staged.
When the Arena is not hosting major concerts it will be used for banquets, balls and dinners for 1,000 on the Arena floor with an end stage for band and dance floor.
There are numerous break out function areas on the various levels for cocktail functions, seminars, board meetings etc
The facility has been designed with 36 corporate suites to support the annual operating costs of the Arena and give Western Australian businesses a new option for corporate entertainment.
There will be a cafe and bar on the ground floor which will be open at event times and at other times to suit tourists, visitors to the city and city workers.
There will be a 680 bay car park.
Centrally located in the CBD, it is close to public transport- the central train station and bus station, the freeway, the city centre and will serve as a vital link to Northbridge, as Perth’s premier entertainment destination.
The Perth Arena has been designed with state of the art back of house facilities to ensure bump in and bump out of concerts is as quick and efficient as possible. For national tours it is essential that Perth is an easy quick and cost effective venue.
